GMC Motorsport was formed in 1994 by Gerry McCafferty. In 1998 the team expanded and welcomed Davie Hatrick on board as the navigator. He was placed in charge of press releases, rally reports and of course sponsorship . To date, the team has prepared, developed, maintained and competed in 3 cars: 2 Vauxhall Novas and currently, an Opel Corsa. The initial Corsa build took place in 2001/2002, however, the car continues to be upgraded to ensure its specification allows peak performance. All members of the team are friends and relations, and their commitment is second to none, which can be seen from our previous results in this very competitive form of motorsport. With over 80 rallies entered to date, only 7 have ended in retirement due to mechanical failure and 2 due to accidents. This is testament to both the pre-event preparation of the car and the service technicians knowledge and commitment to winning. This consistency has led to Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship Class wins in 1995, 2000 & 2001 with 2nd and 3rd places achieved in 1996 and 1998 respectively, and more impressively, an overall victory in the 2001 Scottish Borders Rally Championship. 2002 saw the team pick up another class 1 victory in the Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship. Over recent seasons, the team have competed in selected larger events throughout the UK and Ireland. We would be happy to answer any questions or comments you may have about the team.
